The Association of Boston Law Librarians (ABLL) is a diverse group with members from Boston area private law firms, law schools, federal and state agencies, as well as businesses. ABLL was founded in 1966 when the librarian of Choate, Hall & Stewart initiated informal luncheon meetings among Boston law firm librarians in order to get acquainted, exchange ideas and discuss common issues. The group focuses on providing educational and social opportunities for its members.

Please mark your calendars for the upcoming AI/Tech Fair to be held at the Social Law Library August 9 from 11AM-2PM.

Don’t miss out on raffles and a chance to mingle with fellow librarians as you learn about new resources and features to help with your legal research. As this event is open to members of Social Law and LLNE, please feel free to bring along colleagues who might not be members of ABLL but are members of those organizations.

Meet with representatives from leading legal research tech companies to learn more about their products and emerging capabilities. A full list of vendors will be sent closer to the event, but attached is a list with links for those who are confirmed.

For more information on  the fair or the content feel free to reach out to Kara Mack: KMack@goodwinlaw.com

ABLL Winter Education Meeting: Artificial Intelligence, Sponsored by Bloomberg Law

January 11th, 2018

When: Monday, January 29th @ 12:30

Where:  Social Law Library, John Adams Courthouse, One Pemberton Square, Suite 4100, Boston

Artificial intelligence has become a popular buzzword across all industries because it can help us do things faster and cheaper. In the legal space, that means classifying and organizing voluminous amounts of data, such as court opinions, dockets, and EDGAR filings. As Commercial Director for Litigation and Bankruptcy at Bloomberg Law, Darby Green spearheaded the creation and launch of AI-infused tools, including Bloomberg Law’s Litigation Analytics, a tool that enables users to search millions of legal data points by company, law firm, or judge; and Points of Law, a solution that applies machine learning to court opinions in order to highlight language critical to a court’s holding and link this language to governing statements of law and relevant on-point case law.  Darby has been working at Bloomberg Law since 2009, prior to which she practiced as a commercial litigator in New York. She has an A.B. from Dartmouth College and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School.

Darby’s full bio can be found here

Lunch will be provided courtesy of Bloomberg Law.
